Terms of use
Plain-language terms for Case File. These are a draft and will be replaced by the reviewed version before any account is charged.
1. Who these terms are for
Case File is offered to law enforcement agencies, training academies and the officers they enroll. An account is opened by an agency representative using an agency email address and is the agency's account.
2. What you get
Access to Case File: Conversations for the officers your coordinator enrolls, for the hours your agency has bought, with a debrief, transcript and audio recording kept for each run. Department plans add video faces and the other features listed on the pricing page.
3. Hours and payment
Hours are pooled across the agency and counted from the start of a conversation to its end, rounded up to the minute. Trial pack hours expire after 30 days. Card payments are processed by a payment provider; Investigative Logic never stores card numbers. Purchase orders are invoiced net 30.
4. Your data
Transcripts, recordings, debriefs and account details belong to your agency. We use them to run the service, to support you, and in aggregate and de-identified form to improve the training. We do not sell them. See the privacy page.
5. Fictional people
Every person, face, voice, address and case in Case File is fictional. Nothing in it is built from a real person or a real case file. Any resemblance is coincidence.
6. Training, not policy
Case File is a training tool. Its debriefs are coaching, not a determination of fitness, discipline or policy compliance, and no state training credit is implied by a certificate of completion unless a commission has recognized it in writing.
7. Acceptable use
Accounts are for enrolled officers and staff. Don't share logins, don't record other people without their knowledge, and don't use the service to process any real case information.
8. Availability and changes
We aim for the service to be available at all times but don't guarantee it. We may change features and prices with notice; your current term's price is fixed.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what your agency paid in the twelve months before the claim. We don't accept liability for decisions made in the field.
10. Ending
Either side may end an account at the end of its term. We'll give you your agency's data on request and delete it after 90 days.
11. Law
